Oklahoma Panhandle Agriculture and Irrigation meeting
Guymon, OKLA.- The Annual Oklahoma Panhandle Agriculture and Irrigation meeting will be held on Thursday, November 10th at the Pickle Creek Center from 6-10 p.m. where hopes of forming a three-county panhandle water region will be discussed.
With much discussion about the future of the Panhandle’s water situation, a water plan for Cimarron, Texas and Beaver County has been suggested by many landowners, farmers, ranchers, business owners, etc.
The Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan calls for "local" or smaller water shed regions that can cater to regional needs and differences. It has been suggested that we need a more fitting region than just a western watershed region. The three counties of Cimarron, Texas, and Beaver are distinctively different from the rest of the state as they are solely reliant on the use of Ogallala ground water not stream water.
Voting memberships are open to any agricultural landowner or agricultural producer within Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, and Woodward counties upon payment of dues. Non-voting memberships "associate membership" are open to any other person or persons, associations, corporations or partnerships.
Spread the word to a friend, this is an issue that will affect many in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Taking active steps in forming a three-county region will help protect the Oklahoma Panhandle’s water for future generations.
Please contact Katie or Soila at 580-338-5838 before Tuesday, November 8th to RSVP.
